I contacted David Givskud to discuss my motorcycle accident, and after the initial consultation, I knew I wanted to use his expertise! His knowledge and professionalism is what you’d expect from your attorney, and his is beyond measure.
He communicated with me regularly and discussed, in great detail, the process and what to expect. I am very pleased with the level of service from he and his staff, and can absolutely recommend them without hesitation!
Thank you Mr. Givskud, and to your staff, for your assistance and helping me throughout the entire process.
David Givskud brings more than two decades of trial and insurance experience to his personal injury practice. His client-first philosophy is simple: advocate for every client as if they were family and as if they were the only client.
Being injured can turn life upside down. David takes pride in helping people through that uncertainty with clarity, compassion, and relentless focus. Former clients often note how quickly he responds, how clearly he explains each step, and how personally invested he is in their outcomes.
Based in Grand Haven, David represents clients across West Michigan in cases involving auto accidents, trucking crashes, motorcycle collisions, and catastrophic injuries.
$1,500,000 – Motorcycle and Commercial Vehicle Collision (Oceana County)
Pre-lawsuit settlement believed to be the largest auto injury settlement in Oceana County in 2024. A commercial truck driver under the influence of cocaine crossed the center line, causing a catastrophic collision. Immediate evidence preservation led the insurer to settle the case in full.
$495,000 – Auto Accident Involving Minor (Cedar Springs, MI)
Settlement for a 17-year-old with spinal and facial fractures after being t-boned. After the insurer refused to exceed $180,000 in pre-suit offers, David was retained and resolved the case for nearly policy limits within six months.
$475,000 – Rear-End Collision with Dean Transportation Bus (Kalamazoo, MI)
Settlement for a client who required neck surgery and extensive therapy after a bus crash. Strong litigation strategy and collaboration with the client’s family led to a favorable outcome before retirement.
$275,000 – Motorcycle Collision with Government Vehicle
Motorcyclist was rear-ended and thrown 50 feet, suffering serious injuries. Frequent in-home client meetings helped build the case and secure settlement prior to trial.
$225,000 – Auto Accident (Holland, MI)
Client injured when a 91-year-old driver lost control and struck her vehicle. Initial offer was $50,000; after discovery and depositions, David negotiated $225,000 — nearly full policy limits.
$195,000 – Pedestrian Injury (Portage, MI)
Elderly client struck in parking lot; liability was initially denied. David obtained police body-cam footage and accident-reconstruction testimony that proved fault and led to settlement.
$150,000 – Delivery Truck Collision (West Michigan)
Client suffered migraines and post-concussion symptoms after an Amazon-subsidiary driver ran a stop sign. Settlement reached pre-trial after documenting day-to-day impact and medical evidence.
$150,000 – Auto Accident (Muskegon Heights, MI)
Settlement for client whose pre-existing back condition was aggravated by a t-bone collision.
$100,000 – Delivery Truck Stop-Sign Collision
Settlement for client with shoulder rotator cuff tear requiring surgery.
$75,000 – Scooter Accident (Downtown Grand Rapids)
Client struck in crosswalk; initial police report blamed her. Investigation proved the driver had been drinking, resulting in a $75,000 settlement.
$60,000 – Bicycle Accident
Cyclist sustained fractured collarbone and underwent months of therapy. Settlement achieved before trial.
$60,000 – Dog Bite Case
Client attacked by a dog that jumped a fence, requiring emergency treatment. Prior bite reports and medical documentation supported settlement.
Before practicing law, David served in the United States Air Force as an Imagery Analyst with an Air Intelligence Unit focused on operations in the Middle East. His military training taught him to stay focused under pressure — a skill he brings to every client case today.
After earning his law degree, David worked as an Assistant District Attorney in Boston, where he prosecuted hundreds of felony cases ranging from embezzlement to violent assault. This courtroom experience laid the foundation for his confident, results-driven litigation style.
Prior to representing injury victims, David spent nearly a decade defending Michigan insurance companies. That insider knowledge gives him a distinct advantage when negotiating or litigating against insurers. He knows how they evaluate claims and how to counter their tactics effectively.
